That means you trust us with personal things, and we take that seriously. This policy explains, in plain words, what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It only knows what you tell it.","On phones that can, Gerry reads your lines on the phone itself, so they never leave it.","You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete all of it, at any time.","## What we collect","### Your account","When you create an account we keep your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also receive the name and profile picture on that Google account. Your password is handled by our sign-in system and is never stored in a form we can read.","### What you put into Gerry","Your entries (each one’s amount, title, category, date and account, and the line you typed), along with your accounts, budgets, goals, income and recurring payments, loans (including the names you give the people involved), and your settings such as currency and language. It is kept on your phone and synced with our servers, so it is safe and available on every phone you sign in on.","### The lines you type","To turn a line like “lunch 14” into an entry, Gerry reads it on your phone when the phone supports this. When it can’t, it sends that one line to our servers, together with your currency and the names of your accounts, so the entry can be worked out. Some of this reading is done for us by carefully chosen service providers that are only allowed to use the line to give us the answer, and not to keep it or train on it. We don’t store these lines in our server logs.","### Checks that keep Gerry safe","So that only the real Gerry app can use our servers, the app asks your phone’s operating system to confirm it is genuine. This produces a short-lived token that tells us the app is authentic; it does not identify you. Our servers also see the network (IP) address of each request, which we use only to protect the service from abuse and keep for a limited time.","### On this website","If you use the contact form we keep your name, email address, message and the language you wrote in, so we can reply. If you join the iPhone waiting list we keep your email address and language so we can tell you when Gerry is available. This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. It remembers the language you pick in your own browser, and that never leaves your device.","## What stays on your phone",[25,26,27],"**Fingerprint and face lock.** Handled entirely by your phone. We never receive your fingerprint, face or screen lock.","**Reminders.** Loan and payment reminders are scheduled on your phone.","**Widgets.** The numbers your home-screen widgets show are stored on your phone.","## How we use it","We use your information only to:",[31,32,33,34,35],"run Gerry: read your lines, store and sync your data, and show you your numbers;","keep your account and our service secure, and prevent abuse;","answer you when you contact us, and tell you about Gerry on iPhone if you asked us to;","fix problems and make Gerry better, using information that doesn’t identify you;","meet our legal obligations.","Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on our contract with you (to provide Gerry), our legitimate interests (to keep it secure and improve it), your consent (for the waiting list, which you can withdraw), and legal obligations.","## Who we share it with","We don’t sell your personal information and we don’t share it with advertisers. We share it only with service providers that host, secure and run Gerry on our behalf — such as cloud hosting, sign-in, and text-reading services — under agreements that limit what they may do with it. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety, or as part of a merger or sale of Gerry, in which case this policy will continue to protect it.","## Where it is kept","Your entries, plans and settings are stored on servers in the European Union. Some of our service providers, such as the ones that handle sign-in and read lines, may process data in other countries; when they do, we use safeguards required by law, such as standard contractual clauses.","## How long we keep it {#delete}","We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, apart from anything we must keep by law. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect yours, and we will tell you if a breach affects you as the law requires.","## Children","Gerry is not meant for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
